I think they made it too obvious when the Spartan Queen said something to the effect of, "Freedom isn't free!" Oh well.... so, when's the next episode of "24" coming on? I wonder who Jack Bower is going to torture next? Torture protects freedom you know? ROFL

History? I know a little about the Spartans. I know they were the scum of Greece. They embraced slavery.

I'm a Conservative. My brother has already served a tour in Iraq, and I'm pissed that he's risking his life and limb for the petroleum industry's profits.

Gunny, if you think our government doesn't influence television and movie writers, you're the one who is ignorant.

Ok, so let me get this straight. Hollywood (the same Hollywood that ''hates our President'' and he is ''OUR '' President good , bad or indifferent) makes a movie about a fictitous battle. And some how you come up with the idea that Hollywood is now in league with White House ? Son, you need to get a grip. And as far as ''24'' , you need to change to the History channel and actually learn something for a change. I have yet to see a pro-war movie out of the movie industry and the idea is laughable.

there is no intentional message in this movie.

it's meant solely to entertain, and as it entertained so well, that people are transfering their own thoughts into it. people are simply determined to politicize everything or use everything to justify their views. there's people reading a dozen different "subtle metaphors" into it, both pro and anti war. haven't you heard the one where xerxes represents bush, not iran?

the historical inacuracies are abundant. it's like a film about king arthur or robin hood, or a ww2 film staring john wayne. it's just a fantasy for a good time. and man, that film was a heck of a good time.

look the battle up on wikipedia, it's increadibly fascinating what actually happened (as far as wiki is reliable to that end). the athenians defeating the persian navy, the persian ability simply to maintain an army so increadibly large. no army would be that big again until napoleon. think about that. the largest army for 2200 years. it's mind boggling.

be more worried about the director's next movie "the watchmen" which actually had a message, and was all about the message. a big damned message. god knows what they'll do to that. lord knows it'll piss off the author, alan moore, though.

or better yet, worry about the cop shows regular justification of cops "bending the rules", and always getting the right guy.

p.s. the spartans mostly had the helots as slaves. these were peasents who didn't belong to a person, but to the land, and were in effect slaves belonging to the state. slaves were pretty common in ancient greece, aesop for example was a slave.

the most slanted thing in the movie was when they called the athenians "boy-lovers", not because the athenians didn't boy-love, but because the spartans were way way more into it. it was pretty much legally required for a spartan citizen to have a relationship with a young boy, and expected of young boys. it was considered necessary to their development into upstanding citizens.

The Bible compares the female womb to the earth in Psalms 139. mom Earth is pagan symbology. "Earth mothers" are no longer. people who've a "organic spirituality" look to view the planet as religious, with its ravines and mountains and so on. whether, i think that the womb lining is considered as being an extension of the define at Isaiah fifty seven:5 - "You burn with lust between the o.ok. and below each and every spreading tree; you sacrifice your infants interior the ravines and below the overhanging crags." For those have self assurance in making love, no longer conflict, it fairly plenty follows suitable into the wellbeing care expert's workplace. Then there is the undertaking of acknowledging the father or no longer. there are in all probability different circumstances as nicely. in case you stick to the imagery by way of, it follows that human beings will choose freedom (no longer conflict) to pass into different countries and 'scoop out' the infants there too.

Do you know ANY history concerning the Spartans and the Persians, and the battle of Thermopylae? Why don't you look into history a bit before asking stupid questions.

Yea what's with that? They should be bashing Bush and the American military for trying to protect the country from it's enemies like good little Libs. Happy now? Good now go stew some more in the corner and have some more koolaid. I can't wait to hear your next piece of irrational verbiage.

Okay everybody...

Read the comic book,er,graphic novel, that "300" is based on.

There are no messages in it or in the movie about this war.

You're just projecting you're own opinions onto what you see on the screen.
