Because he lived a life of crime and she looked at him as bringing that lifestyle home and it killed his brother.

That is just how it is sometimes in families. One Child can do NO wrong for sum reason and another can't ever seem to do anything right in parents eyes. She needed someone to blame for her fairhaired boy being taken from her and given that doughboy had always been in trouble with the law, she instantly assumed he was responsible for what happened to Ricky. I mean, he comes into the house carrying Ricky's lifeless corpse thats been shot, she jumped to the conclusion that Doughboy was responsible, and honestly i dont know if i wouldnt have done the same thing. I think They had different fathers and She Loved Moris Chestnuts father more than she Did Ice cubes father and she took her hatred out on Ice Cube (doughboy). I cant think of what else it would be, because Chestnut was flawed too, he had a kid and girl living in the home and was still in highschool.

This is just my opinion. Before Ricky went to the store with Tre, him and Dough were fighting. They were rolling around on the ground fighting and it got broke up. Then when his mom found out he had been hurt/killed, I think for a minute she assumed Dough had done it because they had just been fighting and she knew he was the more "gangsta" of the two. Then even when she realized that Dough had nothing to do with it, she was just so upset that it happened. Remember when she was trying to get him to open his SAT scores and it truned out he did pass? I think she was just so sad that she lost her baby and plus he had such a bright future, and in her opinion she might have even thought if she had to lose a son, why couldn't it be Dough. Also, it is said a couple of times that RIcky and Dough have different daddys. The impression I got is that she liked Rickys daddy better than Doughboys. During the part when Tre has just moved to Furious's house and they are all small, Dough does something to make his mom mad and she makes a comment that "he is no good, just like his daddy" or something to that affect. I think the most horrible part of that scene is RIckys son seeing his daddy like that and all the blood and nobody takes him out of the room. But it reflects real life cause when something like that happens, part of you is in shock and the other part of your brain comprehends it immediately and can do nothing but scream "no" This is just my opinion.and "Boyz" is a classic movie of my generation (born 1979) as far as Im concerned. If you liked this movie, try "Menace II Society" if you haven't seen it already.

I think it's because Ricky had a bright future ahead of him, and Doughboy was an ex-con, and still involved in drug dealing and gang activity, so he didn't have much going for him on the straight and narrow. She either thought that Ricky being around Dough got him killed, or the guys were really looking for Dough, and it was just wrong place, wrong time for Rick.

I agree with all the previous answers. Ricky's mother was so proud of him that she vicariously lived through him and expected him to have a successful future away from the hood with his potential as a professional football player . All her dreams came crashing down on her when he died and she took it out on Doughboy because of his gangster lifestyle and that he was alive and Ricky wasn't.

She hated Doughboy because she hated his father. She loved Ricky, because she loved his father. When Ricky was killed, she had no one else to blame but Doughboy.

She felt like doughboy kept up with trouble and it was his trouble that got Ricky killed.
