Some shows create a cliff hanger season finally (hoping to get better ratings), but still get canceled by the network and leave the show without closure. Other shows simply have a plot that is driven toward climax presumably to be reached in the final episode (such as a space crew that is lost and is trying to get home), but is prematurely terminated before the moment can happen.
The only shows that I know of are these two:
1. Space Cases.... crew never makes it home.
2. Alf.... Alf if both found and taken away by the alien task force. (Although, they did make a movie ten years later due to fan complaints that did give closure.)
Any other shows that left cliff hangers and/or unresolved issues?

EDIT:
"finally" in the first sentence should read "finale."

The Others - a 2000 NBC show that lasted 13 episodes. In the final episode, everyone was violently offed. It was supposed to be a season finale, with the hope that it would be picked up again in fall, but nope. Everyone just died. I loved that show (and I've been bitter about its sudden cancellation for seven years).
John Doe also had a rather abrupt cliffhanger ending, if I recall. Another one that was supposed to get picked up again. So many unresolved plotlines in there.
I also wish Firefly had resolved all of its character issues, but, alas, 14 episodes isn't enough for a series like that. At least there was no cliffhanger, and the movie did make the lack of more episodes bearable.

the ones that I just got into with no ending are threshold, and John Doe, if you look on line you can get an idea of where it was headed on somethings but the last seen showed his friend might be his enemy.
to correct some of the other answers,
Quantam Leap had a last show, and sam made a choice to go back in with out Al.
Farscape and Firefly had movies (and may have more) that answers some questions

Okay... some things for the other posters... 1, Day Break with Taye Diggs did finish... on abc.com, you can see all the episodes... and 2, Farscape had a MINISERIES, not a movie, to tie up the loose ends... Angel, Crusade, Dark Angel, and kinda Firefly left you hanging...

As a Brit, i'm able to sympathise with the 'exhibits getting cancelled' ingredient. the worry is that no longer in basic terms like the huge American studios, frequently the investment for persevering with exhibits with the smaller uk studios in basic terms can not be discovered. the different problem is that the channels tend to exhibit them on the comparable time as different channels are exhibiting issues like XFactor, that's probable to take visitors faraway from the scifi exhibits. Primeval isn't thoroughly lifeless in basic terms yet- they are making a Canadian spin off from it that has been shown, and the final ingredient I heard they have been waiting to work out what rankings series 5 have been given whilst they confirmed it on ITV (that's the more suitable terrestrial channel that exhibits it in the united kingdom) in the recent 3 hundred and sixty 5 days before any judgements are made approximately destiny series. there have been some stable scifi exhibits over right here, which comprise Torchwood, yet that died whilst they desperate to take American finding for series 4. many of the folk i comprehend who used to like it gave up on the main modern series as that they had replaced it too plenty. even in spite of the shown fact that, there are books to accompany Primeval- they are attainable on Amazon. they are actually not continuations of the series, yet thoughts that ran alongside the series. I additionally enjoyed the strolling lifeless yet regrettably we've in basic terms found out that they are actually not even going to coach series 2 on uk television, and that i don't have Sky.

Invasion was on ABC last year I think it was.
It was only on for one season and it was good. It ended in a total cliff hanger with more questions asked than answered and they decided not to pick it up for another season.
How annoying.

The show I remember being left hanging on was "Dark Angel". They set the stage for some sort of revolution and...nothing. Didn't "Farscape" also leave viewers hanging?

Reunion on Fox, that was an awesome show, and it just left you hanging when they decided to cancel it, no closure.
