I do everything I'm supposed to, enter poem, enter contact info, etc...hit "Submit" and it tells me I have a Microsoft error...and then I don't get a confirmation, so I know they're not going in. Forgive my terrible grammar in this whole posting...

JD has the right idea, but I'm going to tell you straight out...

Poetry.com is a scam.

Don't waste your time.

I wouldn't worry too much. I entered a poem to poetry.com a few years ago and it seems that everyone "wins" some kind of award and your poem gets published... but to see the actual book with your poem in it, you have to pay them for the book, and then they keep inviting you to pay them more money to go to some kind of award ceremony where you'll recieve an award for your great poem, just like 500 other people did. If you're serious about becoming a poet, keep writing and start up a collection of poems and try submitting them to a real publisher--I didn't buy the book nor go to the "awards ceremony", but I could tell that the "contest" was just a way for them to get money. (If I really was one of the best poets of the year, I think they could then afford to send me a free copy of a book, no?)

well if it makes you feel any better, it's not the best location in the world to post your poetry. they pretty much accept EVERYONE's and tell EVERYONE that their poetry is great and then they ask you to pay for a book that has your poem in it; that's how they make money. it's kinda fun to do it once, but don't lose too much sleep over it if you never can get a poem to load onto their site.

I gave up on Haiku poetry myself thirty years ago when most of it began to read like coded messages passing between aliens in a hostile world.
