It really all depends on what skills you have to offer and as importantly searching in the correct locations.

Everyone searches at Monster, CareerBuilder and Craigslist but there is a very good site that pulls in the results from all the major search engines into the one site called Indeed.com.

anywhere if you have the right skills.
what kind of work do you want to do?
what kind of work are you qualified to do?
are you interested /able to go back to school to get the required training for such a job?
Try going to the state sponsored unemployment offices for a good start.
they can help you with your resume and might be able to point you in the way of job training skills.

Well now, you didn't say where, but you would probably get that being the head of the company in Mississippi or Louisiana, and you would get that being a good janitor in Las Vegas.
