One of my close (WHITE) friends wants to name her daughter KRISTEN. (which is super common and not recommended by me) BUT the problem is she wants her daughters name to start with a "Q", no matter what. So she wants to spell it "QRYSTEN" ...what are your thoughts on that. Or do you have any girl names that start with "Q" that i can suggest to her? Thanks in advance!

That is just so wrong! That kid will never have her name pronounced (or spelled) correctly. It will start over every time she has a new teacher, new job, meets new people, fills out papers at the doctors office, etc. It does sound like you have a lisp if you try and say it the way it is spelled. You have a right to be concerned a bad name affects a child their whole life or at least until they can legally change it. Good luck changing you friends mind.

yeah thats a weird spelling. i had a friend though who's daughter was named quiersti and that was kinda cute. maybe querstyn i guess wouldn't be awful but spelled like qrysten no way.that kid would be picked on. if you spell things oddly it creates confusion as well. my daughters name is alessa which sounds just like 'a less uh' but is pronounced by other people as aleesa or alyssa quite frequently which i guess doen't bother me too much so i just hope it won't bother her as she gets older. at any rate just tell her to give it some thought first becase this is the name the kids stuck with for better or worse.

Qrysten? usually i'm not one to point out problems that will result from unusual spellings, but this one is quite unusual.
all else fails, give her the Q name, make Kristen her middle name, and call her Kristen.
Quinn
Quintessa
Qadan

Kristen is pretty, but putting a Q on it sounds extremely stupid. I personally don't like names that start with a Q.

Oh dear sweetie.. you have every right to be concern. I am queen of loving unusal names, but woo... that spelling is horrible! I agree with you too, its a boring name. When I see that Qy... it makes me think of the slang word that means when a woman's v-gina has an air fart (you know what Im talking about girl)... That little girl is going to be called that!.
As for cute "white" girl names tell her to try Quin/Quinn, Quill, or Quillan. Those are nice names that she wont get teased!

Tell your friend NOT to ruin a beautiful name like Kristen with a ridiculous spelling. If I were Qrysten, I wouldn't want to have my name misspelled (sp?) all the time...

Shes qrazy! Can't she put a q in her name but not start it with a q? Maybe her middle name can start with a q instead of her first. I like odd spellings but Qrysten is a little too odd even for an oddball like me. My thirteen year old (Halie) said it looks like oyster to her. I'm sorry if I sound mean but please think twice.

I always liked the name Quinn. It means Queen. I've also seen things like Quinntina. That way, the girl could later chose to go by Tina if she wants.

the only thing I can think of is Qirstin. Its pronounced (kir-sten). But I would suggest taking the Q out and changing the spelling:
kristyn or kirstyn.
Here are a few Q's I could think of..:
quera (keer-a), quely ( kelly) ,
