the media today..is too much.....
they take one look and spin it..out of control....
women are beginning to look like cookie cutters.....
everyone looks the same...
the beauty industry makes billions..based upon peoples
desire to keep up appearances....
and most photos are altered and " photoshopped"..to perfection....adding to most peoples insecurities....
which in turn...basically sells a product.....(
cosmetics/fashion /plastic surgery etc etc etc..)

I know what you mean. I guess it is because we all want attention at times and want to be appreciated. Unfortunately, appearance is the first thing someone notices about you, and a lot of people are too shallow to look beyond the outside. The thing is that often those people who look super thin and hot do not have much going on upstairs. It's not always the case, but at times. But I think most of us can be "hot" to various degrees if we just work at it some and be who we really are, and not try to copy someone else.

There reaches an age (around 25) where what is on the inside is growing in attractiveness at the same rate that what is on the outside is becoming much more difficult to maintain. Age is the ultimate democratizer.
People are obsessed with an image because they mistakenly believe that the closer they can get to it, the happier they will be. One of the funniest tricks of nature is that we spend so much of our lives cultivating what we cannot keep and neglecting what we cannot lose.
Kudos to you for moving beyond the superficial. Having spent too much time there myself I've found it liberating to let it go.

Im one of those people who cares about my look. Its not that I want to be socially accepted, its just the fact that I can accomplish so much with the right look. For beauty, I get creams, body washes, lotions, scents, moisturizers...etc because keeping your skin clean is part of your health. Spending a lot of time on my appearence is something I enjoy. We only have one life so make the best out of it. Syle? Well I dress how I wanna dress. It just so happens that my style is trendy. Im European you cant blame me. Looks are a way of representing yourself. Now a days people judge by first glance. I like looking good. It makes me feel good. Its who I am. Its a way of representing who I am on the inside by flaunting it on the outside.
I personally think that its kind of rude when people call those people who worry about their appearences "self absorbed". Its not that. We all need respect from others and I guess dressing up and looking good is one way.
Im not obssessed with being thin, I am thin already. And im not hot, nor do I want to be. Im myself. Take it or leave it.
Just remember. WOrry about yourself. If people want to be thin, so be it. If people want to look hot, let them. Appearence is a way of represnting who you are on the inside by showing it on the outside.

Because appearances is what we see with our eyes and what others see. We can't know the person by just looking at them, that's where the talking comes in. Guess they're obsessed with being thin and so hot because they want others to look at them and go "whoa...she's hott" and then, they'll probaly want to hang out with that person and so on...I think you get the idea...

I think deep down we're all still trying to attract out next mate. Although I've relaxed on how I feel about my appearance, there are certain things (clothes) I won't do such as dress like a kid today, pierce body parts, etc. I've also learned to look deeper into someone's personality as apposed to outer appearances.

Appearances does not mean thin. Appearances means looking the best you can look. I like looking at people that try to look their best in a natural way. It is just as rewarding as other good looking things to look at like a beautiful home, or a gorgeous sunset or a beautiful baby.

Some people might care about their looks alot. You never know why until you ask. Some people care about their looks either because they want to have a better look than what they had before when they were younger.Or simply because they want to look good for other people. Some people might care about their looks because they want to be in the modeling carreer, or acting carreer. For me i care about my looks because I want to become a profesional bodybuilder one day, I want to be an actor and i want to show people that you can do what ever you put your mind into.

It's not always that they care about it. They are more concerned sometimes with what other people are going to think about. It is like being in high school. You can always tell who the popular kids are because of how they dress.

The media feeds such nonsense, and people buy into it so easily. We are vain creatures, as well as gullible and impressionable: we'll follow the trend, even if it were to say, "Jumping off bridges is the New Cool!" How sad, isn't it?
