My guess would be Great Britain.

Well the simple answer is Great Britain.
However, given that so many other people have since come to Australia i would say that a greater percentage have, to some degree, a hint of Italian or Greek heritage as well.

P.S. for those who say "white Australia or not white Australia" lets be real - the notion of Australia didn't exist until 1880 when federalism was first explored. SOOO that means that the ethnic mix for the CONTINENT of Australiasia prior to European involvement was:
African, Indian, Chinese
mix all three together some 8000 years ago and you end up with the Aboriginal peoples of Australiasia....

Australia was originally a penal colony for Great Britain. Not to be snarky, but shouldn't the fact that they speak English in Australia have been somewhat of a hint?

Great Britain is the answer.

if you mean the white heritage, that would be Great Britain, because they sent their prisoners there and established it as a penal colony; that was basically the start of white Australia.

if you mean the black or aboriginal heritage, that is a whole other ball game.

Why is it that some many people spell Britain as Britian? I have seen this many times. It is a puzzlement.

Great Britian, it was originally a place where they sent prisoners and other undesirables.
