My friend says he has lost 9 pounds over a period of say, about 2 months? He hasn't done any extra exercise or anything and has been fed well. It might be a form of diabetes of something, but his mom said it might be because of stress. I also know that he has a LOT, a TON of stress, he constantly has to fulfill his parent's obligations and expectations. Please tell me what this might be and what can he do. Thanks a lot.

It probably is stress, he should go to the doctor just in case, but 9 pounds over 2 months is not a sign of diabetes.

If he has the fat to lose - why is it a problem... but if it is lean body mass he is losing.. that's not a good thing and he should get advice. Fortunately diabetes is easily diagnosed by a doctor.

As for stress... unhealthy levels are treated by drugs otherwise he should take some chillin' time - join a gym as the exercise relieves stress.

If his doctor "THINKS" it might be diabetes, why hasn't the doctor checked for that? A diabetes check is a routine procedure that takes one drop of blood. No reason not to rule that out immediately. If a doctor told me he thought I might have diabetes and then didn't check for diabetes, I would get a new doctor immediately!

Peoples weight changes almost constantly but not so you'd notice. The heavier someone is, the higher the weight fluctuations. Heavier people tend to carry higher amounts of water weight and the "ebb and flow" of this water can result in weight loss.

Proof of this can be seen when you exercise. After exercising but before you drink anything, your weight is lower than it was when your started.

This is one of the problems with weight loss. Water weight loss/gain causes some people to get discouraged during the typical weight loss diet.

If it is stress he also willl toss alot in his sleep. Maybe he is just so busy he doesn't eat. From your information, it doesn't call for any serious health problems
