No- Gymnastics mixes both strength and agility. The men of course must demonstrate strength to the judges and it doesn't have the same emphasis as women's gymnastics. That's why the apparatuses are different IE: horizontal bar and the rings just to name a few.

Would you be surprised to learn women didn't even compete in gymnastics until 1928 (only team) and 1952 in individual events. The men had gymnastics from the start 1896 and it goes back all the way to ancient Greece. (Of course the sport evolved , but for the men strength and agility was always the focus.

In the USA we are probably conditioned over time since the prevailing cultural attitudes of what a manly sport is or that gymnastics is for women. In other societies this doesn't hold true such as China, Japan, South Korea or eastern Europe to just give you an idea of how a culture views a sport. I also noticed that the Greeks seemed more interested in the male gymnastics then the women's. There where allot of empty seats for the women's gymnastics.

Just for the record the men do not compete on the balance beam. They demonstrate physical strength competing on the rings, high bar, parallel bars, and pommel horse. The only 2 apparatuses they both use is the vault and the men's floor exercise is not the same (women's floor exercise is choreographed to music) it's judged differently.

Gymnastics requires strength.
I am a male gymnast and train 6hrs a week, 2 hours are strength.
Being a male gymnast means that I am one of the strongest boys in the school.

If being strongest boy in the school is gay then i guess that it is.

I don't think it's gay. Gymnastics requires a whole lot more strength than most other sports, if not all other sports. A male gymnast is much stronger than say a male baseball player.

Well, I think that gymnastics is commonly a sport suitable for girls, not for boys. Girls’ bodies are perfect for this sport because the average girl’s body is slimmer than boys. Boys have a larger frame. Boys need to have a slim body in order to complete this event. One slip could mean disaster.

I know if I had a son he would not be in gymnastics. Not because its "gay" but because I don't like it. Boys are meant to play basketball, football, baseball, hockey, go hunting and stuff like that. I doubt I would let my son play basketball either let alone soccer cause I don't like them. We shall see when I have kids.
