If the memory card that came with an older computer will fit into the memory card slot of a newer computer, will I be able to put it there without harming the computer at all?

Please give source(s).

Yes you can....As long as the slots are compatible. 168 pin will not fit in 184 pin slots...

I think you are asking if it fits, and you install it, can it do harm? The answer is no. Just be sure it fits. If the pc does not accept the RAM, It will let you know big time with mega beeps. I do it a lot and have never harmed one. Some intel board will accept the RAM and give squirrely results. Bottom line: Check your pc specs.

The old sticks must be compatible with the new computers, most computers on the market now have DDR2 memory and some have DDR so might/might not work. If its SDRAM then forget it because its too old.
