If you have ever dealt with a true hypochondriac, you know they never really exhibit signs and symptoms until after the condition is brought to their attention. I believe this is what happens to those in the field of psychology. They come to identify many psychosis and then identify with them.Some know that can't be true and fight to prove it's not. Others believe it and try to fight against it.To "act normal" until the acting is so over the top they have a full blown neurosis about it.

I have had personal experience dating a Psychiatrist. She had an abusive (physical and emotional) childhood and unintentionally gravitated toward the mental health field. I feel that she was looking for help herself.

maybe you're just "projecting your craziness" but I think the more likely answer is that you'd go nuts too if you listened to people talk about their mental health all day long. I'm crazy enough just trying to deal w/my co-workers.

crazy is a point of veiw, they may just consider themself normal but that too is over-rated. yet I do know where you are coming from.
