if you haven't received any papers.........than probably you need to get a divorce.

Ummm, first off u should of filed for divorce years ago. Men don't usually file, and some may remarry even if not divorced. Hire an attorney and start ur divorce procedure. U have no proof of any other filings, then u have to file. If it comes up that u are already divorced then the first filing takes precedence. Ur attorney will have to place an ad in "his" last known county/city paper for so many times until answered or not answered. If not answered, then the court determines him as uncooperative and grants ur divorce. Especially if no children are involved.

If he had divorced u, u would have gotten divorce papers. U would have had to sign them as well, so I would say u r still married hun.
My suggestion is that u talk with an attorney to see what your options are since its been so long and u dont know where he is.
Good luck and congrats on the new hubby to be....:)

You are not divorced until you both sign a Divorce Decree. If you and him have not signed this document, you are still married to him. I would speak with a marriage lawyer or go to www.searchdivorcerecords.org it see if you and him signed one in your sleep at some point.

States vary...Usually one is served papers, but if he couldn't find you, he could have divorced you anyway. Or not. To know, you can visit your county court house, or get an attorney (yeah, I know, groan) for a consult to figure out what you need to do.

Go to the court house where you were married and ask for the files. It will state if he has filed for divorce or not.

Well, if you're not legally divorced and he dies, you still get all his stuff. A marrige license is a binding contract.

If you fiancee loves you then he'll be cool with loving you from now till that other bastard dies.

I think if you never were served with the papers, or these days they mail them, then you aren't divorced.

type in your browser the state you were married in then type in the county then type in court documents most of them are on line and it is public vewing it would most likely be under muminaciple court records when you come to the court house records type in his name and anything he has filed will be on there
