The "news" is not a public service. The "news" is a commercial enterprise owned by people who make a profit from their sponsors, the advertisers in the commercials. It is very important to the businesses called the "news" to be nice to their sponsors and to not present the "news" in any way that harms their sponsors' reputations or profits. Naturally, what and when and how and why the public hears the "news" is affected by the bottom line. As with all marketing and mongers and snake oil peddlers, it is wise to remember, "Buyer Beware" and "There's a sucker born every minute."

Actually- many times there IS. I've caught myself thinking many times recently when a News Story has just broken; "Hmm..-There's more to this than meets the eye going on here..." And SURE enough, a LOT more comes out about what was going on. Soo...-Don't be too hasty to pass judgement on a News Story when it first comes out. Things aren't usually as they seem!!! :)
