i know they mean the same thing but i notice that my guy friends say thanks and the girls says thank you.
is it true?

Im a girl and I say both. If Im around friends I usually say thanks, but around people I dont know and in stores and stuff I usually say Thank You.

Thanks is more informal...and Thank you is formal...but really I say both...depends on the person I'm thanking...
