ok so i sprained my ankle yesterday and tommarrow i am heading to cailfornia on a road trip. is it safe to travel?

ps: it is a second degree sprain.

Sure it's safe to travel. If you're going to be in a car for long periods, you'll need to figure out a way to elevate that leg, though. It will get pretty swollen if it hangs down for long periods. Be sure and take your pain medications in case all the walking makes you sore. If you're using crutches, your arm and shoulder muscles will ache until you get used to using them. I imagine your shoe doesn't fit, so take some sockies to protect your foot if it gets cold. :) Have fun!

If you are going on a long trip, just make you can put your foot up. Keeping it dependent will cause more pain and swelling since this is still a fresh injury. If you will be riding in a cramped vehicle, might as well go after a week or so.

Yes it's perfectly fine. But remember to apply the RICE principal. Which is Rest, Ice, Elevation, and Compression

ifs its not broken or fractured you should be fine. of course its going to hurt so try and keep it elevated when you are sleeping. wrap it too and maybe try and stay off of it and use crutches. good luck and have fun.

buy yourself a cane or crutch to get around, elevate at night with ice.
