I believe that the only way to become more outgoing is to simply do it. Go with your friends and take a trip to the mall; attend various parties [and make sure you talk with at least 10 different people okay?]; join some group dates; and look for friends that will stay by you no matter what. I was once like that but I found some really great friends who are bright and optimistic and fun to hang out with and by the end of the day I'm slowly opening up. Encourage yourself and others as well. If you need help, look for one. And stay committed. If you really want to feel the life out a free world, do. Don't back out. And always smile. Enjoy the world with someone, and don't stay indoors!

Hi,
I think any kind of change in thought patterns is a tough mental discipline. Sometimes you will succeed and sometimes you will fail, but you will have to make up your mind to change the way you think, and be the master of your thoughts. Start replacing negative thoughts with positive ones. Start thinking more about the people around you than about how you think you are presenting yourself. If you practice being in control of your thoughts and emotions rather than letting them control you, you can change the things about yourself that you don't like.
Hope that gets you thinking. Good luck!

I am so sorry I just ran out of time and will try to answer you hopefully soon but I had to reply because I noticed you are Puerto Rican and I am too and I thought it was amazing that I came across your question and that we have something in common. I know this didn't answer your question but I just wanted to say hello to you. Take care
Tenga una buena noche amiga Hasta luego adios

The only way to overcome shyness is to force yourself to participate in activities you are not accustomed to . You need to decide what appeals to you, practice, research and finally join in. Once you feel comfortable with the activity, you will be able to feel comfortable with other participants. Remember, most people don't want you to feel uncomfortable and will welcome you. It's not just misery that loves company.
