Most BYB start them at age two to get the money rolling as soon as possible. Most trainers wait until they are three or four and have been shown and proven themselves by winning. This way you can actually get a decent stud fee, not like one I saw on EBay the other day for $99. And unless your horse can compete and win, then it should be off to the vet. Great geldings all start out as mediocre stallions

Full sexual maturity is at two years, however it does happen before that! I wouldn't encourage it before then, as it's like breeding a teenager. Studs don't have much common sense, so they can hurt the mare unintentionally or get hurt themselves from inexperience. Teenagers run for the bed, while an adult warms the other adult up to it, so neither one gets hurt and they are both ready.

It does you no stable to objective to plot for colour until you already know which colour features are recessive and which of them are dominant. additionally i could be sure you have the mare checked nicely in the previous breeding to be sure they experience she isn't already to previous to foal. If she has foaled interior the previous it might desire to be ok yet have her checked. Equus magazine had a piece of writing approximately genetics no longer too some time past. Being an ex farm animals inseminator and breeding six foals i will allow you to already know there is so plenty extra to it then only choosing out what you like and thinking you will get what you like it extremely is for particular.after examining above solutions i had to function that only using fact a stallion is tall does no longer mean this could be a trait that he's passing on. that does no longer be favourite until a learn of lots of his progency in distinctive herds. only using fact an animal possesses a high quality does no longer mean he passes it on. only like a cow with triumphing teat placement. It does no longer mean the calf might have it. on condition that it rather is a dominant trait.

It depends how he has filled out. If all his muscles are built he should be able to at 2-3. If they are not you should wait another 1-2 years until they are 4-5.

2 years minimum, but they're not really ready until around 3-4. Also be prepared, as sometimes they pass out the first few times after breeding.
