I'm not trying to insult you, but this was the old-fashioned way, when there wasn't an official earring-piercer. This was also the way many people got their ears infected. I highly suggest that you buy a pair of earrings at a place like Claire's. I know it's for preteen girls, but they have a display of REAL earrings you could pick and they're not all that expensive. And it's done by a professional who is less likely than you to mess it up. I mean, come on. And plus, the potato is kind of unsanitary. It's almost 80% water, so if it's raw and you poke it, some kind of potato-juice will come out and seep into your new, raw earholes. Not a good idea.

Hope I helped! Remember, your home-piercing may not work out.

Listen if this not done right or in the wrong place like a vein you could get one of those plums or growths in the back of your air that will have to be surgically removed so save yourself some time and money and get it done professionally, if you don't just research the procedure as much as you can before you do so you can compare procedures and see if they are the same and make your decision.

actually, the only safe way to do it is:

1. go to the mall and get it pierced by someone who has done it before.

2. take care of it as directed.

yeah thats pretty much it. but you have to have your earing it right after and keep it in for like a month. clean the earing before and every other day.
