Lobbyists and large campaign contributors control the USA. They own all of the politicians, no matter what side of the aisle they're on. Congress spends too much time trying to get themselves re-elected and not enough time doing the job they were elected to do.

Campaign reform is a joke. The big bucks are simply being redirected to those "nonprofit" organizations with a political agenda such as moveon.org.

People believe what the media tells them without doing their own homework.

Republicans say the Democratic Party messes with the voting process; Democrats say the Republican Party does. No matter what happens, someone's going to say it isn't legit. I think it's as fair as it's ever going to get.

Big oil corporations, the war machine corporations and the Jewish lobby that send billions of dollars to Isreal to ensure the whole world hates us forever.
We are certainly not the city on the hill as we were 200 years ago, we have lost our way.
But then again who is going to fight for America, the people who watch Jerry Springer or the losers(Jay Walkers) you see on Jay Leno. Nobody cares that Democracy has been hijacked in America. Anna Nicole smith is still front page news.
Peace,

Corporations are in control now.
No he's a pansy for the rest of them.
I don't know when we lost it, but it was probably because we believed in being loyal to our country and government. We behaved like harmless, hardworking sheep. Now the wolves have come out to eat. I Hope there is another Civil War before we totally loose it. We are becoming their slaves, slowly but surely.

I knew damn well that Bush JR. was going to be president as soon as they mentioned him. So no I don't think it's legit. Plus have you checked out the electoral votes of the states that are overrun with illegal aliens?

President Eisenhower, former head of the winning armies of WW II, warned us almost 50 years ago that if we were not diligent, our nation would be run by a vast and powerful industry of warmaking. It's very nature and budget would drive and dominate decisions and policy from then on if we did not act responsibly as citizens by being informed and voting responsibly. Since that time we have abdicated our power, not been informed, and not voted. After 50 years of being on their own to decide for us while having an unlimited budget, who knows where this has taken us. We can get it back if we stop bickering about the petty issues we are given by them to squabble over, and work together, as we vastly outnumber those who control us. We could stop it all in one week of concerted effort, but as yet, we are still more interested in voting on who is best on American Idol, than in voting for who is President of the United States.

The golden rule: HE who holds the gold makes the rules. In the US it's the corporations.

The election process and politicians are a sham which may have been initially designed to give the people a voice but has now turned into a joke which is used to keep us from rioting against our oppressors; erm... leaders.

As it is, we wouldn't know a true democracy if one jumped up and bit us in the rear.

most people find it easier to either, go with what there daddy told them, or not think about it. it is really a shame that this country has breeded so many "non-thinking people" , "un-caring people". the only way is to vote against EVERYBODY that is an incumbent and let them know.

the voting process is .. mehh legit. lol...

its not corrupt, but so many people who vote for candidates and policies.. dont even know what they are voting for..

some people dont know what country borders us to the north... and they are allowed to vote for things like presidential candidates...

Its just stupid. You should have to know what you're voting on before your vote... you shouldn't just vote because we fought so long to be able to vote (ie. woman, blacks)...
you should learn about what your voting on because people fought so long for you to be involved in the political process.
people have it all wrong...!

propaganda is an easy method to appeal to the unlearned voter.. and it spreads worse then a virus...

atleast 20-45% of the left wing party vote for left wing candidates and policies because they, through propaganda and misleading evidence, fall for things like conspiracy theories and (usually fabricated) things like corruption accusations or claims... usually based on misconceptions and untruths... however, some are real.. no doubt.

Why can't people, before they vote.. take a quick online test or something, (or when they register) to verify that you atleast have some knowledge about what your voting about...

Is that really unreasonable to ask? How are you going to say no, it makes perfect sense. What, are you going to say 'Oh no, just because you dont know what your talking about doesn't mean you cant talk about it.'
Uh.... yea... compelling arguement.

I dont mean like.. you have to recall specific details about the roe vs. wade case, or the specific benefits behind using ethanol, rather then oil (financially, environmentally and national security wise)...

Just questions like... What are Bush's beliefs about ethanol + oil?
What are Sen. McCains plans for Iraq + the war on terror? (generally)
What are Sen. Clintons plans for Iraq + the war on terror? (generally)

easy questions that, if you dont know.. you should be able to vote..

BUT! that will never happen. Why? Because the 'cant-hurt-anyones-fragile-feelings,' paranoid, screetching Liberals won't allow it.

It actually makes sense.

Bush can introduce policies to Congress for approval
Bush can command his military, as commander-in-cheif and the highest rank in the military.
Bush can veto policies passed in both the House and Senate.
etc..

Congress can enact or veto policies created by Bush
Congress can declare war and fund military..
Congress pretty much controls revenue and spending of government budgets.. sorta.
etc...

People has control of the government, by the freedom of any legal adult citizen to vote...

however, "weak-minded" people are controlled by the politicians in the government, through propaganda.

That should leave "strong-minded," wise individuals to run the country..

however, most American voters are "weak-minded" people, controlled by politicans in government through propaganda as a result of them leaving themselves vulnerable to this brainwashing by simply, not learning.

You remember that little old lady that did the wendys commercial, Clara, something or other. She said "Wheres the Beef" she was the one that was in charge during the Reagan years. My guess is Paris Hilton is in charge now.
