Most of the ideas in the Declaration some from John Locke and Thomas Paine.
Not a problem. Jefferson never claimed that these ideas were his originally. They were basic ideas of the Enlightenment, which means *gasp* [oh dear], Humanist ideas.

Thomas Jefferson read about independence from French and British history to get ideas for the great American nation.

He did not steal it from anybody. He was quite candid that he used ideas from European philosophers, notably Locke, Rousseau and Hobbes. The ideas were understood by others down through history. Jefferson had a chance to make them part of nation's birth.

He didn't actually steal it but a good portion of the ideas of the Declaration was based on the laws and rules of the Iroquois Confederacy.

He based many of his ideas on the enlightenment philosophies. -All men are born with unalienable rights (life, liberty and the persuit of happiness) and it's the governments job to protect those rights, but if the government doesn't protect those rights, it is the duty of the people to abolish that government and establish a new one - That idea comes from John Locke's Social Contract.
The idea that everyone is equal is another enlightenment idea. (very popular idea).

Many of his ideas were from the charter of the six nations of the Iroquois.
America lived and 500 nations died so one could live.
the 500 year struggle continues. Native Americans fight for the constitution and always have.
