In the last several months, there have been several famous people or politicians that have made their views on certain issues very clear.

I understand that they are in a certain spotlight and their comments can effect the way the public views them, but I am sick and tired of people retracting theirstatements for the sake of their careers. I believe that if you always apologize for your beliefs then you will always let people run your life.

What do you think?

I agree. I think people need to value the honesty of people and I am sick of the "victims" out there demanding apologies. I lose respect for someone who backtracks for the sake of political correctness.

If what they need to apologize for is what they really believe, then they need to think before speaking, a good idea for all of us under all circumstances. If your beliefs are likely to cost you your career, then you need to consider how to get the two in synch. What is more important, your career or your beliefs? Too many people are shouting off their mouths and then trying to recover from their own stupidity. If they are going to mess up then they should just live with the consequences of their words.

yes and no-----sometimes things happen to enlighten us to realize we were wrong about an issue---for example long ago and far away I once thought I was a liberal----but things happened and I have now learned that I have to stand up for what is right instead of covering for others just because it is popular to rally behind some Hollywood liberal that has their head wired on wrong------I make no apologies for making my own decisions and I think this is what you are saying also----am I right?------it makes me sick for certain ones to enter into rehab to cover their butts when they stick their foot in their politically correct mouths.

I believe in just watching what you say because when you're in the spotlight anything can be misconstrued!

I think people should only apologise for their actions when their actions oppose their beliefs. If one's actions oppose another's ethics, one should not apologise for their actions, but apologise that their beliefs aren't the same and that there's nothing anyone can do about it.
