It'll hurt at least a little no matter how you get it done. Please don't do it yourself though!

i pierced my ears at home, but i numbed them with ice cubes and i couldnt feel anything. For my lip i used benzocane, a derivative of novicane which is used in canker sores instead of cavities. they sell it @ CVS. you have to pierce the area a little before you use the benzocane, and it takes longer than just freezing it with an ice cube. it also depends on where you're piercing.

I'll tell you honestly...my ears hurt when they were pierced at a shop...but when I got my tounge done it didn't hurt until the swelling started. The actual needle going through the meat didn't hurt one bit...didn't even feel it. Figure that one out.

Anytime you peirce a needle through a body part it hurts. But is it unbearable? Depends on your pain threshhold.

doing it yourself? yea, really bad, alot more than a gun or someone who knows what theyre doing, not to mention the pain afterwards when it gets infected...or the shots and meds you have to take
