The coil. It has an immediate effect once fitted and your immediately 'not' protected once removed.
A painful procedure, but well worth it. I have had one fitted now for approx 6 months and its fantastic...........no worries at all. But of course its also well worth thinking about condoms if you have a new partner - its not just pregnancy you should be trying to stop - sorry to sound like a boring old fart!!!

At 32 in a non smoker the OC is still the commonest choice. If you take out condoms you only really leave coils. If you are only looking for short medium term contraception only standard copper coils would be used and these can produce bleeding and cramps, (Progesterone coils are expensive and generally used in patients looking for 5 years of contraception).
Em, without seeming to appear impolite, you mention your ticking clock and don't say if you already have children. At 32 if you don't it has already ticked and tocked a bit! At 27 years doctors apply the impolite medical term ' elderly prim ' ( for primagravida or first pregnacy.) Peak biological age for pregnancy, now much ignored in the West is 18-24. At 32 your fertility level is already less that it was then!

this is best discussed with your obgyn. there are the sponge the iud, the womans condom , the diafram, . I would not go with the patch or shot. Can I ad my oppinion you are 32 you should decide to start your family soon. I just had a baby at 40 and it is hard. Get it over with and have your guy get a vesctomy.

Pills make you gain weight too. I find the IUD is good. It's this thing they stick in you to block the sperm. It is a simple procedure. They just put in and take out when you want.
Some last for 5 years or 10 years.

If you're regular and have lots of self-control, try the Rhythm method, commonly known as Natural Family Planning. We've used this method for nearly 3 years as we already have 2 kids and I don't like poisoning my body with chemicals, and so far so good!
If you're not regular, try the femidom (it takes practice to put it on, but it's not as bad as a condom. Don't listen to those who advocate the pull-out method as they obviously haven't heard about pre-seminal fluid which contains sperm.
Try looking at the attached website for more tips. Good luck.

As you said your clock is ticking and you have this new partner. Why dont you just go for it? as delaying might prevent you having kids especially if you go back on the pill. Make the best of it whilst you can and reap the rewards now and later.

I've just had an implant put in my arm, it's brilliant - it lasts for three years, has virtually no side effects and is one of the most effective forms of contraception - it's not affected by antibiotics or if your sick and you can have it removed whenever you like, your body will return to normal immediately. Definitely worth considering!

1. Abstinence
2. Condoms
You're 32 and should be responsible, despite what you think of condoms. They are the next best thing to the pill and will protect you against STDs (people lie or don't know they have STDs).
Either use condoms or don't have sex. People who are irresponsible get STDs or pregnant.

Try the Bucket method, ie. Make love with your partner standing on a bucket and when you see his eyes start to roll, KICK the bucket away. (If you don't have a bucket a stool makes a reasonable substitute but you may have to kick a little harder).
