I'm 22 weeks pregnant and have the worst heart burn right now. Tums no longer help. With my last pregnancy my doctor had to prescribe me something. Is there anything else that is safe for pregnant women. Thanks !

Drink milk it will coat your stomach, eat bread that is not toasted, sleep upright, avoid fatty foods and deep fried foods, and I heard yogurt helps too but I have not tried that.
Those are the methods I know that do not involve taking something. I was told to only take Tums, so I ate those like crazy. You might just have to check with the doc.
Sorry you are having a hard time, take care.

My doctor gave me Zantac while I was pregnant to help with the heartburn. However, if you have Zantac, don't take them w/o asking your doctor first. I could be mistaken about the name. Also, try lying on your left side. That tends to close off the esophagus/stomach lines and may ease the heartburn a bit.

I have been taking licorice tablets, available in health food stores, and they really help. I have an ulcer and was on medication until I was about 18 weeks along....it started to not work so I tried something on my own. It has made a HUGE difference!

Two answers:
1 one-two tablespoons apple cider vinegar in a cup of cold water. Drink it.

2. take digestive enzymes (you can buy them with the vitamins)

Both would be perfectly safe for the baby.
