First I would check to see how many are in your town. Second I'd go check out their layout and pricing.
Third I'd give my store a catchy name to draw attention to it.
Fourth check out some bigger stores like Wal-mart, K-mart, Target and see if they will give you a discount on clothing that they are no longer selling, they would rather sell to you than to ship them back.
Good luck on your new store if you do open it. I love shopping at second hand stores. Blueladybug

My biggest complaint about second hand stores is that they are overpriced these days. People want to be able to buy good quality used clothing that is not out of fashion for a reasonable price. I will not pay $10 for a used pair of jeans or $5 for a shirt because I can get them from a yard sale for $2-3 for jeans and $1 for shirts. I think this will be especially true in smaller communities. People shop at second hand stores for deals, just keep that in mind. Also, a clean, well organized ( by size, by item type) will always sell more than when people have to hunt for items. Weekly color specials (1/2 off certain color tag) or $5.00 bag specials usually tend to draw in business too. Good luck in your venture.

I have some advice. Do your homework in the area you want to set up your business. Make sure there will be a customer base for what you intend to sell. Make sure you also have resources for what they want...where will you get the second hand clothes and will they be the style and sizes of your customers? Get the best location; too far out of town and no one will go there. Good luck!
