I don't know where that guy from Australia lives but here in Melbourne, Australia, while big coaches etc. for long trips do have seat belts the large majority of them are not used, as kids see buses as being places they don't have to wear seatbelts and they are way to cool to put them on. And ALL public buses I have ever been on have been seatbelt free. it is crazy considering seatbelt rules. But I think it's because it costs alot and gives the bus specific amounts of people it can hold, if there were seatbelts no body would be able to stand and hold onto the handles etc.

Actually some newer school buses do have seat belts installed on them and the kids should be putting them on and for public buses they have poles you can grab onto plus the way the seats are set up its ok. But I know buses like grey hound have seatbelts

It's all about the money. They give excuses about it being safer in a bus without them, or safe enough, or the kids won't use them anyway, or whatever. But it boils down to the school districts not having the money to buy new buses or retrofit the old ones.

I think if they get sued enough for injuries that could have been prevented by seat belts, maybe they'll reconsider. For now though, it's the bottom line. Do what's cheapest.

They're safer.

In the case of school buses the seats are designed so that you bounce off them, basically.

But generally speaking, a bus is much less likely to hit something and come to an immediate stop throwing the occupants forward hard. Then tend to plow through things they hit.

because its a stupid regulation it doesn't could make experience. in spite of if I trust the guy that suggested it can make experience for the motive force to could placed on a seat belt so in the variety of an twist of destiny it ought to shop the motive force on proper of problems with the automobile. As for motorcycles some states that used to require helmet now no longer do. I continuously placed on a helmet. i'd like to have something between my head and the pavement if I ensue to be sliding down the line at 60 mph. 10 circumstances likely isn't a huge sufficient volume. in case you wreck a motorbike you may be damage. They similar isn't unavoidably actual for a automobile.

i'm guessing your american from your name? but in australia its compulsory for every single school bus and longdistance coach/bus to have seatbelts. most public buses have seatbelts, but also holds. most cases your bus journey is too short to have time to put a seatbelt on. but they have lap belts and the school ones have the proper ones. hope that helped

I have always wondered about that! It would have to cost less than getting sued. I was told once that it was because the seat backs are high enough to keep the kids safe, but that doesn't make them exempt from the law does it?

So kids don't smack each other in the heads with the buckles..lol I never understood that either. Taxis are exempt in NYS. I wouldn't ride in one without a crash helmet and a 3 point harness. The way they drive!
