What is the children's book about a boy who goes to his friend's house and all these fantastic things happen?

It SEEMS like one page is covered in these awesome illustrations and the other is words. It never tells you if the child is imaging it or not (but of course he is). The last time I read it was in the third grade so I cant remember much but him being shot through the air in a cannon seems to happen it. I LOVED this book and would like to find it again.

Anybody's name? Do you remember any of the adventures?
