My scooter/moped is about 2 years old and has about 3800 miles on it. It was sticking last fall when I put it up for the winter so I took it apart the other day & lubed the cable (both at the handlebar & at the carb.) It only seems to stick when I've been riding it for at least 5 to 10 miles wide-open-throttle. I always run wot because I want to get all the speed that I can out of it. When it sticks, I can't turn the throttle down/forward without working it back & forth & kinda forcing it forward. It doesn't seem to stick unless I run wide open throttle. I can't afford to have it serviced right now & would really appreciate it if someone can help me figure out what's wrong with it. Thanks

It is easy to check if it's the cable or the carb it's self . Grab the cable just above the carb pull it up if the cable is sticky you can tell by opening the throttle, if it's the carb let the cable down slowly if it allows the cable to become lose before the throttle it self closes, it's something in the carb it's self.

You should probably check the hoses around the carb and connections. If you can look inside the carb, there might be a tiny hole blocked...I worked on a carb before where the owner was complaining about it sticking... some metal tube was clogged.. Try and check it out.

If your cable is running free, and there are NO frayed parts on the inner cable, then take the top off the carb, and move the needle down one notch!
