I am a little biased because I am a life long Dodger fan, but I do really believe that the Dodgers have made the moves that they needed to make to win the west this year. The NL West is probably the worst division in baseball so it really is a toss up. Jason Schmidt will be a huge help to the Dodgers, because as anybody who knows about baseball knows pitching wins championships. Randy Wolf will be a solid third or fourth man in the rotaion. Offense might be the only thing that hurts them but if Nomar stays healthy and the young guys from last year like Eithier and Martin improve just a little they will have what it takes to win the west. If not the Dodgers then it will be the Pad's. Oh and #1 Red Sox fan, Gagne does not play for the dodgers anymore so who cares if he stays healthy.

The west is always the hardest to predict because usually the team who wins it is barely over .500....I think this year it will be the Dodgers (if no key injuries). Their pitching staff is solid with Jason Shmidt, Derek Lowe, Brad Penny, and Randy Wolf. They also have great speed with Juan Pierre and Rafael Furcal. Luis Gonzalez, Jeff Kent, and Nomar will add the power in the lineup.....The Padres have no power hitting and last year Peavy was horrible, The Giants are still too old and relying on Barry Bonds' 42 yr. old body way too much, the Diamondbacks have decent picthing but are extremely young, and the Rockies can just never win....

SF is still missing too many pieces on an already old team to make a serious run at it. The Padres and the Dodgers are most likely the ones who can take it, esp with the SP additions for both teams, not to mention a year for the talent to start bonding in LA. However, Rockies will be a dark horse that nobody seems coming. There's a lot of powerful, young talent on that team that could carry them a lot farther than most would see possible.

Dodgers!!! ok i'm a blind dodger fan yet to be truthful, all and sundry interior the NL West is a contender. of direction i'm biased against the Giants yet they're an excellent team. i think of Winn might have an fairly stable year and if their pitching team can string some wins mutually they're going to be stable. Bonds will wreck out of his droop ultimately and that i think of Lowry might have a stable year too. The nearer spot is a question mark nevertheless.

It will be a really tight race I think, down to the wire. My pre season before injuries pick is The Padres, they are going to squeak it out. The major reason is Jake Peavey is going to have a great year. His stuff is just to good to have a year like he did last year. The Cy Young award could be his. Besides Peavey the rest of their starting staff is good, the bullpen is good anchored by Hoffman. Brian Giles should be better and play up to his career averages a bit more, he will benefit by having his brother on the team playing second base. Adrian Gonzalez will be a year better. Young looks like he is going to be a stud starting pitcher also. So all that being said they are my choice.

I love the Giants, but anyone who says they will win is crazy. It'll come down to the Dodgers and the Pads again, with D-backs putting on some heat. If Kent and Nomar can stay relatively healthy, it'll be the guys in Blue.

I'm sticking with the Padres this year. They seem to always find a way to win.If they don't win the Dodgers will. The Dimondbacks will be there in a couple of years but there just not ready yet.
