I have an Ipod and I recently bought a new computer, and now I can't transfer my library from my old computer to my new computer. Can anyone out there help me? Thank you so much...please explan without sending links if possible as Apple has already sent me about a half dozen links that I have already been too and is so confusing and time consuming. Only send links if it is the only thing that I can do. Thanks!

I tried plugging in my ipod into my new computer, and it said if I transferred everything to my new computer it would all be erased. =(

If you have and external disk (and i recommend it) move all your library to a folder in the disk then connect the disk to your new computer and import the file to Itunes. It is also good to have the external drive to save all the music so you don't "fill" too much the hard disk of your computer.

I know a solution but it'll erase all your files from the iPod anyway. You can use your iPod as a portable device, but for the iPod to let you do that you have to set it to update manually and when you do that it erases all the songs you have in it. But if you have all the original files in your computer that won't be a problem.

So, the first thing is connect the iPod to your old computer. Go to iTunes and on you iPod's summary, under options, change the settings: uncheck the box that says 'Only sync check items' and check the one that says 'Manually manage music.' That'll let you use the iPod as a portable device. It'll probably erase everything in it too.

Now go to My Computer and find your iPod and click on it. Save all your music files into it. Now disconnect the iPod and connect it to the new computer. Go to My Computer again and to your iPod and transfer all the music files into the new computer and into iTunes. And that's it. Erase all the music files from the iPod through My Pc.

Now go to iTunes again in your new computer. There you'll see your iPod's icon. Now literally drag all the songs from your iTunes library into the iPod's icon in the left panel to transfer all the songs into the iPod again. This is how you transfer music now that your iPod is set to update manually.

You can also connect the iPod to any computer with iTunes and transfer songs into it without any problems. So maybe you can use both computers, the old and the new one.

Hope this helps and good luck!

then go on your old computer open itunes and enable disk usage, take off all your music (if the music is still on your computer ) go into my computer open your ipod ( it should look like a hard drive but with your name or "ipod" beside it ) then find your music and drag and drop it in there and take your ipod put it on your new computer and go in my computer open the ipod folder and drag and drop your music there ( you can also do this with any other files that will fit on your ipod )

good luck

how about trying to plug in your iPod into the new computer, and it should list the songs already downloaded onto your iPod right? then take these and drag and drop them into your library....it's a start.

i do agree with the second post. Unfortunatley Ipod does not let you use another itunes on another computer it will delete the memory it already has.
