Serious answers only, please.

I suspect a family member (my sister) might be involved in a sect.
At first I thought it was just something flaky, with new age meetings and such, an it sounded pretty harmless, but now she's talking about astral projection in dreams, and getting into new "levels", during meetings and dealings with the underworld and stuff like that. And the way she's talking, I'm worried her critical mind is gone and she just takes all these things for hard cash, without questioning what's going on and what's behind the "teachings" of this group.
Of course, I don't want to be preachy and scare her off. How should I approach this? What should I do?
Any input from people with experience with this kind of thing, or knowledge of psychology would be greatly appreciated.

Be there for your sister. But at the same time be careful how you word things. Some of this stuff can be pretty freaky. I knew a lady that was put into a mental health nursing home after being involved in stuff like 'astral travel' They would all lay down on the floor and a leader would talk the threw their trip. And mind control stuff like getting people to do whatever you want by visualizing them in your thoughts and sending them messages.I did all that I could to try to help her but this guy she was seeing had some kind of hold on her.I had a sisterly kind of friendship and well there was a power struggle and she left with him.If I had it to do over again I would have tried to remain a little more calm and gone more slowly with her. My friend has been in the mental health nursing home for over 7 years now. Good luck with your sister.

She is getting involved in a cult. A sect is a legitimate religious group that has belief that differ slightly from similar groups.
Back to your sister. You need to get her some help quickly. She needs to be separated from these people before she buys all their rhetoric. Often women only end up sexually exploited in these situations. Warn her and keep sounding the alarm until she listens.
As a last resort, if you think you'll be safe, Go to a "meeting" with her and stand up and renounce them! Their reaction will show her much!
If she is underage, tell you parents immediately. Notify the police. Have them investigated. They may be doing something illegal.
I know this sounds narrow minded, but my sister lost a very close friend to this kind of thing when we were teens. She escaped, but her friend got in deeper and deeper. Eventually she came home, but soon after lapsed into a coma from which she never recovered. Only a doctor of Indian *India* ancestry believed my sister and her friends mother's explanation. The others said she died of undetermined natural causes. They too were playing around with astral projection. I promise this is a true story.

Astral projection groups. I think there are many religious groups that may be similar to cults. Research them yourself or go with her to a meeting. They must have some literature your sister has with her by now. When I was younger I was a remote viewer of sorts and did some of this astral projection. I met various people who might be described as Underworld. For all we really know they're the ones behind everything anyway. I'm currently on Disability after some of the things I've been through. Much of which was sanctioned and Funded by the Government.

I think the only people your sister will listen to are those who have been through this sect and have come out the other end with stories to tell. Therefore, you'll need to research the group by name and collect survivors' tales. Good luck.
