Well, for starters.. you should never go up to someone and say something that is rude, or hurtful.. no matter how well intended you may be. Saying something like that will more than likely only make things worse for everyone.

This is really a very touchy subject, and I would imagine would be very hard to approach.. If you just go up to the person, and comment on the fact that they have a problem with body odor/personal hygene(sp?).. you are going to cause a lot of unwanted tnesion, as well as embarassing them. That's not right. You don't want to hurt anyones feelings, especially when it's involving such a sensitive subject.

You know, sometimes we assume that whenever someone has a problem like that, that they are "unclean" or that they just don't take the time to clean up.. when it could very well be a hormonal/genetic thing. Now, I am well aware that those things are fairly rare, and are more then likely not the cause.. but again, you really never know. And more than likely, they are aware of their own problem. Chances are, they are already very self-concious about it.

Maybe you could casually mention something to them that would help, whether it be a new deodorant or even some perfume/cologne that they should try. But make sure that you're not coming off like you're suggesting it because they "stink" but rather because you really think it's something they would like.

For example, I had recently bought this "Vanilla Expressions" deodorant (put out by 'Secret') and I just love it! I couldn't believe that it actually smells like vanilla.. I told my sister, and my niece about it (neither of them have any b.o. issues or anything, I just wanted to tell them about it) and everything. I like it a lot, so I told people. The same can go for talking to someone who may be having a problem. Just tell them about a new product along those lines, that you've tried.. and tell them that you think they would really like it. Better yet, go ahead and get one for them.. but make sure it comes off like a "gift" not like a sign that they stink or something..

There are definately ways to handle the situation, that will be easy on everyone. Just be nice, and use some tact.. and I'm sure everything will work just fine. :)

When your at work, preferably around him, and a few other people...be like "man, do u smell that"..He'll be like what?..Then u can just say something like "i think it smells like B.O..and just make a joke or something about it, just be like either i need a bath or you need a bath...just say something not harsh or anything, just hint @ it..It will make him self conscious..So hell probably shower before he comes to work..Truth is that there never really is a perfect way to tell someone that they sink:)....If all Else fails, take some frebreez to work and spray it in your office or cubicle, or where ever....I love febreeze..It smells soo wonderful lol..its a bit of an obsession..Well have a nice night:) and good luck with that stinky co-worker of yours.

You should tell them that it is not good hygene to not take a bath before they come to work....and if it is your co-worker and you have like a friend relationship with them just be honest and tell them straight up that before he/she comes to work come to work looking clean and smelling clean...thats what i would do cause most of the time it does not hurt to tell the truth and to be honest....Honesty is the key to happiness...
-i hope i answered you question

Be nice, but not too nice. Maybe talk about hygenie, or even talk about certain employees(not naming names) who need to take a bath once in a while. Or just say it in an email or something, like, "No offense or anything, but your hygenie isn't too great, so could you wash up before coming to work? It would make some people a whole lot less uncomfortable"

I had a co-worker that had super greasy hair and it was just disgusting. It was as if he NEVER washed his hair! One day, I bought a travel-size shampoo bottle and put it on his desk before he came in. The next day, his hair was perfect.... but it only lasted a day or two, then the greasiness returned. Ewww!

A friend of mine had a similar problem with her boss who had a major BO problem. She put a teeny bar of soap on his desk and he came out and announced it to the whole office!

I guess in your situation you could try subtle hints, but sometimes it's better to bite the bullet and tell them. I would want someone to tell me!

It is not for you to tell her that is what they pay your supervisor for!
Let him/her tell your coworker.
Why set yourself up for drama when you dont have to!
if it comes from you it might be met with hostility, if it comes from the top it will be met with action!

Now to be fair, is it an everyday thing or is it a few times a week kinda deal. Has this been going on for awhile or is it pretty much ever since this person started.
I guess my point is, is this a new thing like maybe your coworker is sitting at the hospital with her dying mother every night when she leaves work....and you certainly dont want to say anything mean, if you find something like this is that case, you could offer to have her come to your house to bathe...but do say it in private and you dont want to embarass her by having other people hear it.

First, tell your boss to deal with it, and if he/she doesn't, leave a nice bath/shower set on the desk and sign a card from "the whole office".

I actually read this from some magazine once... Assuming he does smell really nasty, you can tell him indirectly by saying something like "woke up late this morning eh?" when you first see him in the morning. If he's not fat and dumb he should pick that up right away. Hope that gives you an idea.~

The best thing to do is tell the supervisor of the person, not confronting them. You will achieve better results this way and get what you want.
