No, if the timing is off alittle bit you might see poor performance or bad gas milage, but it will start. The timing has to out alot for a car no to start.

Timing being off can absolutely cause a car to not start. Are you talking about valve timing or ignition timing? What is more information about the vehicle, including year, make, model and ignition setup? This will all make a difference as to the solution.

No it will make it run really ruff if your car turns over buy a repair manual from pep boys and change spark plugs or test the the plug wires one at a time it could be a coil or ignition module. plug fuel filter or a fuel pump.mass airflow sensor. To manually test the spark plug take plug wire off one plug a time and have a friend turn it over and take screwdriver and put it in end of plug wire make sure it has a large plastic handle if it sparks you have fire if it doesn't it is ignition module or coil if all spark plugs fire go to your fuel pump.

the key word here is little.in the old days before all the computer stuff,it didnt make much difference.a "little slow or a "little" fast the car would still start, but with todays computers in cars,i think it would still start.

if its off just a little, sometimes you can turn the dist. and bring it back in,or you could get number 1 up and see where the rotor is pointing and start changing the firing order from where the rotor is pointing.
