i want to be a forensic psychologist, but my mom doesn't want me to be one. i think i would enjoy being a psychologist, but she wants me to be something like a doctor. i wouldn't mind being a surgeon, but i would prefer being a psychologist. what do you think i should do?

I think that becoming something like surgeon should be something you really want to do, not what your mum wants. It involves so much training, that it would be really bad (and expensive) to get all that way and not really like what you are doing.
You can still be a doctor being a foresic psychologist, though do remember it isn't all like CSI or Law and Order. It can be a truly harrowing career choice, having to deal with some really sick people. Look into this really well before hand and make sure that you will be able to stomach what the job involves.

I believe that you should be what ever YOU want to be. If someone forces you to do something you will never be happy and you will not do a good job on what ever you were forced to do. If you have a dream, hold on to it and never let go. Don't let anyone stop you. It's your life, it's your choice.

I think sometimes parents want their kids to be something they wanted be long ago. You are an individual and have to decide for yourself what you want to deal with as a career. It's your life in the end. And you want to be happy at whatever you do...

Follow your heart. You'll never look back and say wow, should have listened to what my mother wanted me to do. But you would look back and say "why didn't I do what I wanted to do".
