Anyone think the Proteas can't win the ICC World Cup? They have the deepest batting lineup (Boucher and Pollock batting at 6 and 7 or even 8!) and some dangerous bowlers to boot.

No the Proteas are not the best ODI cricket team ever because Australia is the best ever. Australia has a good batsmen so hardly the tail-enders have to bat and even they got chance they have Brett Lee who can bat. Brad Hogg can also bat well.Shane Watson can also bat. And they also have a good bowling line up. some of the bowlers can bowl some middle overs. Michael Clarke can bowl. So can Brad Haddin. And if Andrew Symonds play he is a genuine all rounder.

No doubt Porteas are the best side. However, that alone will not guarantee their win of the world cup. Winner of the world cup will be fully dependent on the consistent performance in the world cup irrespective of the strength of any team. One bad day will ruin the chances of any team to win the world cup.
