0.5 because it doesn't smudge as much and you don't have dirty-looking writing and lead on your hand. Also the writing looks even and neater with 0.5- it's more precise.
One more thing to add, if you're picky like me then 0.5 is better for you.

0.5 lead because it feel like it's a sharp pencil, 0.7 lead feel like it's a pencil that needs sharpening.

I think 0.7 is better because it's thicker than 0.5. When I use 0.5 it usually breaks.

0.7 is thicker and stronger than 0.5. Most lead pencils are 0.7.

0.7 seems to be a softer lead. It writes smooth, erases fairly clean and doesn't emboss the paper as much. 0.5 is a cleaner lead, allows you to write smaller and clearer, but, seems to be more brittle. the choice is yours for your own personal desires.

I prefer 0.7 because it doesn't break as much as 0.5's do.

I prefer 0.5 because is has a better flow to it and you don't have to press as hard.

I would say 0.7 because it's more common and not to small but it really doesn't matter

I like 0.5 better because it has a finer point, and I always liked that.
