I named both of my daughters after my sister. She in turn is doing the same for me. She has recently found out that she is having a boy and not girl so she has asked me to come up with something that still had my name in it somehow....So what I did was take my name Alyssa and I could not think of a way to make that masculin so I took Aunt which is what I will be to him and my nickname Lys and mixed it all up and got Lantis....ta dah!! Please let me know what you think also any other suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

personally i don't favor the name Lantis, although it is kind of cool.
Alyx might be a neat boy's name derivation of alyssa
Alyssa has greek root, so do Andrew and Alexander
or, how about Lysander ?( if you don't mind a Midsummer Night's Dream... :) I think Joseph Lysander would work really well, pairing a common first name with a unique and meaningful middle name.

good luck, and congratulations!

Lantis is not a name - tell your sister to wait till she has a girl and then use your name or dont bother.

Why not come up with a masculine name that has the same meaning as yours?

naming your children is not a funny game you play. it is something they carry with them the rest of their life. bad names cause a stigma in this society. people wont want to hire people with screwed up funky names. havent you seen the stats on this? give your son a good strong name, on that could help him in his school achievement and college and the employment scene later on and leave your sister out of it.

Not a good name. It makes me think of praying mantis. Lysander is kind of close to Alyssa. Not sure if it's much better though...
