I actually did a brief research on the Amish, and it turns out, they are not completely anti-technology. They DO use the phone to communicate with outsiders, but only when necessary and there's only one in town. Some women are starting to go as far as talking on the cellphone now. Though from what I know, other forms of entertainment that is any part of technology is still avoided by them.
I guess the short answer is, yes they would use batteries, but only when necessary. My theory is, I don't think shaving yourself with a butterknife is any safer than using a electric shave. xD

why not? I've met a huge trooop of them on a high-end luxury cruise liner ... so, they're not all that closed to the new age lifestyle anymore
