MILWAUKEE!!!
All sorts of festivals such as SummerFest and OctoberFest.
What other city can boast of having a place like:
"The Safe House"?

I LOVED IT!!!!
Course.... there was one winter there where we went for 10 days where the highest temperature was -20° F!

Kenosha is a nice growing city and has been rated by many sources as one of the best cities to live.
While in Wisconsin, Kenosha is actually within the Chicago metropolitan area. It's situated ideally between Chicago and Milwaukee so you can visit either city within an hour or so.
Kenoshans get both Milwaukee and Chicago TV stations on cable.
There is commuter rail to Chicago and there will soon be commuter rail to Milwaukee as well.

Milwaukee. Madison would perhaps be even better; I get the impression that it can be a bit more progressive than Mke.
There are lots of pretty little towns. The problem is that I grew up in one of them, and I get sick just thinking about being too far away from a major city - and Milwaukee is as major as you get in Wisconsin.
We took a vacation up in Sturgeon Bay a few years ago, and while I enjoyed it, I knew that if I had to live there I'd shoot myself.
If you want to go a bit smaller but not too far away, there are cities like Appleton, Oshkosh, Fond du Lac - all smaller but not too too far from Mke.

I almost ended up getting a position in Madison. I have to admit that the person who thought up puttting a state capitol between two small lakes was a naturist. I have to admit it was quite pretty in the summer and most of the people I met had a good demeanor. Even for being in the middle of nowhere, it was one of the most diverse places that could compare to many other places.
I have to admit - it's my old city I knew in Wisconsin, but a nice one.
