Saltine crackers and 7up are good for nausea. Every pregnancy is different, so I can't tell you what will work for you, but my advice is try small portions to figure out what will sit well with you. I found that 7up or a fizzy soda helps w/nausea (makes you burp and helps relieve pressure) Anyways you could try non-greasy, blah food and avoiding certain smells (like cigarette smoke) that worked for me. Well good luck.

What causes most sickness is the overage of acid in the stomach. I took Tums and that helped (check with your Dr. office first to insure that there have been no medical updates that say not to take tums or other anti acids).

Eat nothing that is greasy (trust me, it will really mess you up). Several light meals a day will be better than 3 large ones...besides if you eat "something bad" it isn't as big a loss as if you lost 1/3 of your daily intake.

Sway away from orange and grapefruit juice and coffee; the acid can increase the nausea.

Water, Sprite or 7Up (sip it only) saltine crackers were major helpers for me. Keep some by the bed side and if I woke up during the night I had a snack to keep the stomach acid to a minimum.

I stuck with salads, fruit and the most basic of meats and veggies. Pudding and Jello Snacks (you know, the ones in the 4 pack individual containers) were a God send!!

Hang in there!

Good Luck and God Speed!

I got this straight out of the book I just got at the doctors "Pregnancy and Childbirth"

Nibble some crackers before getting up in the morning and when you are feeling queasy.
After getting up in the morning, wait an hour to drink any liquids.
Eat small snacks throughout the day instead of big meals.
Avoid any strong odors.
Drink liquids between meals rather than with meals.
Stay away from greasy, smell, or spicy foods.
Chew gum and suck on hard candy.
Sip on room temperature ginger ale or clear sodas.
Sit and put your head down between your legs.

Hope these tips help. I've just hit my 5 week mark and havent' got morning sickness yet, so I can testify these work. But, good luck!

Morning sickness, which can actually last all day and has nothing to do with the morning, is actually good for you! Scientific research shows that mothers who experience morning sickness actually have healthier babies! This is because many types of foods contain harmful parasites or bacteria that are dangerous to your baby. Your body develops an aversion to these foods to help keep you from getting a sickness that can kill your baby. Ever wonder why MS usually goes away during the 2nd trimester? Its because most of the danger is past. Babies are most likely to be miscarried during the first 12-15 weeks, so after that the nausea to certain foods goes away too.

Try eating foods that have a low index of parasites and bacteria like mashed potatoes (Idahoan makes great packets of just add hot water), try oyster crackers in chicken broth, hell any crackers, toast, oatmeal, 100% juice, and Crystal Light/WATER. I know you are saying "What's with all the frigging beige foods?" Trust me it works, eat a very little bit, then wait 5 minutes and try to eat some more. Always keep a sleeve of crackers in your purse, it helps in odd moments away from home.

Good Luck!

The most important thing is to eat something BEFORE you even get out of bed in the morning. The minute you get up and start to feel hungry the nausea kicks in and it's like the point of no return. Keep a container of plain saltines by your nightstand. When you wake up each morning, eat about 4-5 (or as many as you can get down), and then slowly get out of bed. Once you're up, don't move around too fast, really take your time. After that try eating something plain but nutritious like a banana, yogurt, cereal with ice cold milk etc.

Eat small snacks throughout the day and be sure to never go hungry because that's when the nausea gets really bad. Even if you're not hungry or have no urge to eat at all, just nibble on something like carrot sticks, apple slices, saltines w/ peanut butter etc.

I've tried drinking ginger tea and it didn't work for me, in fact I think it made me feel more nauseous. But tonight I discovered that regular ol' Tetley/Lipton's tea (orange pekoe) with a little milk and sugar really did the trick-- a lot of people claim that regular tea settles the stomach. It literally kicked my nausea to the curb.

Try taking your prenatal vitamins at night just before you go to sleep. A lot of women feel really nauseous after they take their prenatal vitamins-- you might want to switch to 2 regular Flintstones vitamins if your prenatal vits are making you feel queasy.

Most importantly, just eat what you crave, even if it's something different or something you wouldn't normally eat. Before I got pregnant, I hardly ate fresh fruit, but now it's the only thing I eat, plus cereal, yogurt, saltines and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, lol.

In all honesty, nothing is going to prevent it. It would be nice, but just isnt reality. You can do things to maybe slightly help it, but even then, it may not work. I have been pregnant 4 times and everytime I had ALL day sickness. It was sooooo bad. This time around with my 4th pregnancy I was sick from week 6 to week 20, and then again later on and nothing at all helped I was so frustrated and depressed from it, trying ot take care of my other 3 kids and my husband working out of town. It was awful. . I even got Medicine from the doctor(phenergan and zofran I think it was called) and it didnt do anything either. It was terrible........

Here are some things you can try and maybe will help for you

Sea Bands...you can buy them at any pharmacy. I got mine at Wal Greens
You can go to http://preggiepops.com and those may help you
get ginger to nibble on, or ginger ale to drink
B6 vitamins help with nausea. You can also ask your dr to give you prenatal vitamins with extra B6 in them that are supposed to be good with nausea.
Eat small meals throughout the day. and get lots of rest
And Emetrol like one girl said. It didnt work for me, but it very well could for you.

Not keeping food on your stomach usually causes you to feel nauseated. Eating light meals throughtout the day, and crackers at times when you really feel sick should help. Especially in the morning when you wake up, try saltines..

late late at night or early early in the morning keep some crackers by your bed , it will ease the nausea because most of the time morning sickness only comes and gets worse when you are hungary, being that you have no appetite thats why you feel sick all day, eat rice cakes or something with no odor or grease in the mid of the night.

sleep with a good yummy cereal next to your bed. As soon as you wake up, middle of the night or morning, pop a handful. A good sugary cereal like captain crunch, apple cinnamon cheerios, or cinnamon toast crunch worked great. I'm 6 months into my second pregnancy and so far its all I seem to want. Hey, you never got a bad bite of cereal, you were never suprised by the taste, you always know what your getting with a cheerio, it always comes out right. Its the perfect food!
