If there was a time machine :), I would go back during the Roman empire...and if I can..I will choose to be an emperror ;).
I hate the present...the world today is divided between computers and traditions and it has no charm.

I prefer the Roman times...because it has all that vanity, I mean nowadays the people are more hypocritical in a way that they appreciate more important aspects of live...the Romans were severe but honest and they didn't pretend to know answers of everything.
Of course I like another things...such as the brunette and cruel Roman women :), like Mesalina and so on. And as well:
The architecture, latin language, warm wheather...

Anyway....share what is your favourite age in that you would like to live?

Thanks :)

None! I might want to visit, but never live out the rest of my life where there was no running water or modern plumbing. Would you? Just imagine the grossness of wiping yourself with hay/straw/grass after going to the toilet in some hole dug in the ground. Sanitation was not exactly a priority on people's minds back then. Take 19th century America, for instance. Sure, it would be a blast to shake Abraham Lincoln's hand (or maybe not. It may bode ill for your health), but just imagine the way things were! The stench that pervaded cities because of the trash lying around on the streets; the spitting and rude people; the stink of unwashed bodies - Yeah, you get the drift.

Oh, and I almost forgot. Being of the more genteel of the two genders, I doubt I would appreciate going back to a time when women were being stepped on by every chauvinist pig who thought fit to do so.

To put things another way, give me modern conveniences over Ancient Romans any day of the week.

There are so many times I would love to go back to!!!

1) Rome certainly! I would love to be a empress, so I could be a fly on the wall (maybe save Caesar!). I wouldn't have had many rights being a woman, but it would be so amazing to live in time with such discovery amidst brutality. There was life or death, and no one person supposedly controlling it.

2) I would also like to be a part of Elizabeth I 's royal court. The intrigue would have been killer. Actually going back to any time where being a king or a queen meant something would be surreal as well.

3) I would also like to venture back to the American Revolution or the Civil War. I would love to be in an America that was so idealistic and new. Meeting the founding fathers would be a kick too. I can imagine living during the time of the "war between the states" would be extremely tense and exciting. If I couldn't have been some kind of nurse or work in a war hospital, I would dress up as a male and go off to war. I wouldn't have wanted to miss any of the action.

In 1970's China when former President Nixon became the first American president to visit. I'm a foreign relations minor in college and basically an East Asian histories major, so China's been a fascination. Them finally opening up to the world after 30 years of isolation was a tremendous event in the modern world.

"It would be a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there."

If I had a time machine I'd rather just spend a few days in one period or another: Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom preferably, then the next week go visit New York City circa 1925. Go visit the caves in France about 20,000 years ago, then go see Imperial China afterwards. I'm too comfortable with today to want to stay.

I might be curious about life the decade prior the US Civil War. But I'm taking my glasses, shampoo, deodorant, Cuddlduds underwear & stuff. I don't want to be caught taking contacts out!

The Stoneage.
No government, no jobs, no school, no worries.
You get to fight big animals like mammoths or sabertooth tigers.
Plus carry a big club and live in a cave.

I'd go back to the Tang Dynasty in China (Obviously, I'm Chinese) because it was perhaps the greatest period within Chinese history where there was flowering of the arts, culture and peace.
