At times, it is. The genocide in places like Darfur and Rwanda and Bosnia and the political oppression in places like China and Colombia, and the terrible economic realities for people in places like Namibia and Palestine are truly depressing facts of modern life. But these things have been going on for a long time, and the wholesale murder that went on in WWII is gone, hopefully never to return. That is, I regard WWII as the most evil period in history.
Science is making tremendous progress in medicine, genetics, physics, electronics and environmental studies. Women have made tremendous strides - the Supreme Court ruling back in the 60's that said wives cannot be raped by their husbands was a dramatic ruling that some parts of the world (Muslim in particular) are still struggling to cope with.
The arts in the West are totally free, although people's taste isn't always good (Paris Hilton will not be immortal). I know many beautiful and loving human beings, and you can meet people like this too if you try hard enough. There are plenty of people who are admirable (Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi, Bono, Al Gore, etc.). Do what you can to make the world a better place, and you'll find yourself in good company.

I wouldn't say it's terrible so much as it is corrupted.

I mean if you look at nature, and our natural surroundings you'ld see a beautiful world. Then you look at people - not as individuals - but as a group. We are designed to create.

But because it is human nature, we are easily corrupted because we're different. And because we are corrupted, we corrupt others. If everyone just realized this, we wouldn't have half of the problems we have now. We would be able to see the beauty of the world, and see all that man has done for the world.

I think there's a lot of negativity in this world. And most people are stressed out or depressed about something. And they seem to be turning robotic. Wake up. Go to work. Come home. Activity. Go to bed. Repeat. But the concern to me is that things we saw as bad back then are now ok. I personally, try to cope, I guess, but one thing I do know is that if this world was completely bad, then we wouldn't be here. Be it Duke Nuke 'em or the Hand of God.

Some of the world, yes. That's because there are some genuinely rotten people out there. However, and fortunately, there are also good people out there. There's not much we, as individuals, can do about all the bad apples. I, personally, will take all of the apples and make apple pie with ice cream on it. Make your corner of the world nice and those around you will follow suit.

life is random, there is no such thing as fate or pre-ordained plan, bad things happen to ALL people because of coincidence, Murphy's Law, and random acts of nature and people. When the tectonic plates crash into each other and cause human calamities, are they worried about who's good and bad? Don't make me laugh. To think that good people are protected or somehow immune to the laws of nature is not logical or rational. If you start believing in fate and pre-ordained plans, then you're reverted to superstitious CAVE MAN logic....don't do it. Just kidding, do and believe what you want

no...just some of the nut cases that make it terrible for some........it isn't the worlds fault.....we humans were given a beautiful and wondrous world in which to inhabit and it is because of irrational behavior on the part of humans that caused this mess......

Why do you think this? The world is a grand image of evolution and change that shaped the world today, with the help of God!

Yes it is and it`s only gonna` get worse. Man is this planets worst virus. Combine that with greed, war, global warming, starvation, crime and perversions along with every other dysfunction we are getting used to using and we will self destruct . It is only a matter of time.People today just having children should have NO HOPE for their grandchildren for there will not be much left to give them. We need to listen to the youth today who for some reason see the damage we are doing and want to stop it..for their future.

I think this world is very terrible. I can't stand it sometimes. It was fine until human civilization destroyed it even though a civilized unity was needed. I guess this life now has its ups and downs
