The road goes ever on and on..
Down from the door where it began
Now further now the road goes on
and I must follow, if I can
Pursuing it with weary feet
Until it meets some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet
Whither then, who can say?

J RR Tolkien

I hope I got it right... I have so many fave poems, but I don't write any sorry!

Another E. E. Cummings poem- She being brand

she being brand new
and you know
consequently a little stiff
I was careful of her
and having thoroughly oiled
the universal joint
tested my gas
felt of her radiator
made sure her springs were O. K.
I went right to it
flooded-the-carburetor
cranked her up,
slipped the clutch
and then somehow
got into reverse
she kicked
what the hell
next minute I was back in neutral
tried and again
slowly barely nudging my lever
Right-oh
and her gears being in A 1 shape
passed from low through second-in-to-high
like greased lightning
just as we turned the corner of divinity avenue
I touched the accelerator
and give her the juice
good
it was the first ride
and believe I / we was
happy to see how nice she acted
right up to the last minute
coming back down by the Public Gardens
I slammed on the internal expanding
and external contracting brakes
Both at once
and brought all of her
trembling to a
dead
stand-still

This poem is better heard than read. Also I was typing it from memory, so it may not be exactly correct.

ee cummings is my very fave! If yo havn't read any of his poems, you should!

it may not always be so; and i say
that if your lips, which i have loved, should touch
another's, and your dear strong fingers clutch
his heart, as mine in time not far away;
if on another's face your sweet hair lay
in such a silence as i know, or such
great writhing words as, uttering overmuch,
stand helplessly before the spirit at bay;
if this should be, i say if this should be-
you of my heart, send me a little word;
that i may go unto him, and take his hands,
saying, Accept all happiness from me.
Then shall i turn my face, and hear one bird
sing terribly afar in the lost lands.

Houses of Dreams

You took my empty dreams
And filled them every one
With tenderness and nobleness,
April and the sun.

The old empty dreams
Where my thoughts would throng
Are far too full of happiness
To even hold a song.

Oh, the empty dreams were dim
And the empty dreams were wide,
They were sweet and shadowy houses
Where my thoughts could hide.

But you took my dreams away
And you made them all come true --
My thoughts have no place now to play,
And nothing now to do.

You've probably already read it at school, but i love 'The Highwayman' by Alfred Noyes. Just in case you want to read it again. Here's a link. http://www.potw.org/archive/potw85.html

And have fun with more poems.
