Snakes (from Old English snaca, and ultimately from the Proto-Indo-European base *snag- or *sneg-, "to crawl"), also known as ophidians, are cold-blooded legless reptiles closely related to lizards, which share the order Squamata. There are also several species of legless lizard which superficially resemble snakes, but are not otherwise related to them. A love of snakes is called ophiophilia, a fear of snakes is called ophidiophobia. A specialist in snakes is an ophiologist.
An old synonym for snake is serpent (which comes from Old French, and ultimately from *serp-, "to creep"[1]); in modern usage this usually refers to a mythic or symbolic snake, and information about such creatures can be found under serpent (symbolism). I've got one for a pet...a corn snake
I'm always catching various snakes in my backyard, if they are copperheads (which we have allot of I don't kill them, but take them somewhere they (hopefully) won't bother anyone or get hurt.

Snakes are cool:D! My fave would have to be Northen Death adder. I would probably get it for a pet but I like dogs more.

I think as long as they don't startle me by my garbage can like happened a copuple of years ago they are fine if they stay in their own space and out of mine. Okay. I lied. They creep me out.
I meant couple NOT copuple though that is kind of a cool word.
