I want to reserve it with my card but not have it fully charged

I am finding, more and more, that if you do call the hotel, or book through their website, you ge MUCH better deals than through Expedia or Travelocity, etc. And, they don't charge your card until you have completed your stay.

Dont ever book a las vegas hotel online. Most hotels have "Best Rate Guarantee" meaning you look for the best deal found at TravelAxe and then you ring the hotel direct with this rate assuming it is lower than on the official hotel website.
The hotel will then match that price and sometimes even give you 10% discount on this rate. Your card will then only be charged one night max. In addition the odds of getting a much nicer room or being upgraded to a suite free of charge is also increased when you book through the hotel direct.

I reserved at California Hotel & Casino and they did not charge anything. I then paid cash when I got there.
