I have a Ryobi table saw and want to know if there is any device which I can buy which will allow me to use my portable plunge router with the table saw? I'm thinking maybe some sort of guide which would slide down one of the mitre grooves in the table.

Put a 3/4" sheet of plywood on your saw horses, drill a hole through it for the router bit, use cleats to hold the router on the bottom of the plywood, and a 3/4" board for a straight edge fence. Ten minutes and you have a disposable router table.

Routers work in a circular motion, so it doesn't matter what angle the wood approaches them from. A table saw works in a linear motion, meaning the blade, or cut, is perpendicular to the motor. A table saw fence attempts to guide the wood exactly parallel to the motor, that's why accuracy is important. A router can be approached from any angle since the wood only has to be a certain distance from the center point of the shaft (bit). Rigidly mounting the router under a piece of plywood will give you a 4x8 table that can be used from any angle.

And that one link that the other guy gave you is expensive as hell. They charge about $30 for a piece of aluminum channel, 3 feet long. They keep sending me catalogs, but I've never bought any of their over-priced stuff.

What you describe does not exist, and I can't think of a reason to need something like that. How would you hold down the work?

Table mounted routers mount from underneath, with the tool protruding up. You use the fence on the table to hold the stock.

For routing from the top side, I use clamps and straight edges, or router templates.

I would have to say that what u are thinking of doing is unsafe. The tool was made to operate in a certain manner ,and is meant to be securely fixed to the table.Look around at garage sales and you might find a used table that you can securely mount your router too.Play safe-play long.

no, there is nothing like that,, I have a Ryobi BT3000 that came with a router mounting plate but you can't use a plunge type with it!! it has to be fixed,, it uses the tables fence for a guide!

yes you can do this, it's a router lift that you can install in your table... and lower or raise with a supplied wrench... this allows you to use a much larger surface for projects, use the fence, and radius large circles safely.... and lowers out of the way when your using your table saw...
