I hope the american citizens who come on to Q & A don't think that all Brits are anti American. I despise George W for his actions around the world but am not anti American. Blairs as bad. I for one am delighted to have American friends who I met when I was in the army, I can only describe the way I was welcomed and treated better than the way I was treated by the Brit Govt after 22 years of service.

I'm American and I am greatly ashamed at the behavior of our people. American's grew politically lazy and let a president who represent only a minority view be elected not once but twice. One hundred years from now when our grandchildren study history - the Iraqi war will be the second shot heard round the world - the day America (and I hope the British) finally woke up and took their government back.

It's a commonly held view that a Country gets the leaders it deserves !

This is based , in democratic terms, on the fact that these people have been voted into power.

So in many respects - Yes, a nation can be blamed.

Not really fair, is it ?

In a democracy, I think it can sometimes be justifiable to blame a nation collectively, but not all of its members individually.
