Again, it is just a matter of opinion on some programs. But if you look at the site it has a lot of info and more help then the others.

But you need one to block and remove viruses like Norton's and some of the other free stuff. Then you need another program to clean the registers which the anti virus programs do not do. I used to be like everyone and used the free spyware and virus programs. But what I was doing was saying that I have put up security in my house and it will catch anyone when them come in. That is what the free stuff does. Removes the virus or spyware after it has gotten in your computer.
With Norton's anti-virus program, I have a guard at the gate now that will not let anyone on the grounds to break in the house. That is what Norton does is prevent a lot of the viruses from getting on the computer. Example, I get a strange letter from a female and the attachement is "Supposedly" her picture. Norton would not download it cuz it said it had some virus attached to it. The free stuff would have not done that. So you need to shop around and see what you want.
Since I have had Norton's I have not done ONE single recovery in the last 5 months now. In the good ole days, it was a recovery at least once a month, lol

McAfee, PC-Cillin, and other Internet Security Suites offer a comprehensive package which includes Anti-Spyware, etc. but for an excellent (and free) stand-alone, I'd try Spybot SD (Search and Destroy) which offers an Immunization feature that blocks known sites/sources of spyware from even popping up in your IE Browser, as well as seeking it on your drive. (Mozilla Firefox has a ad block extension (free) that works weel within the browser itself). I now have two Macs and a PC, and I am ever vigilant against all threats and don't take anything for granted as safe. I even have antispyware and McAfee on my Macs (Paralells/Windows XP too).

There is no single best program to eliminate spyware and other Malware.

There are many good programs, but I have been using a couple of freeware ones for years with excellant results: Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy. I recommend both and use them concurrently on my systems.
