It just quit one day, put on new fuel pressure regulator, new crank position sensor,got it started & drove about 5 miles & quit again.Got started drove it home. wouldn`t start again, got it started 2 weeks later, fired right up! Drove perfect , drove about 5 miles, killed it ,won`t start, I put in a new battery which it needed anyway, still nothing. I`m fairly intelligent on auto`s , I have worked on them all my life, but this has me stumped. Is something heating up & breaking down? (coil pack) I don`t think it`s the fuel pump because it runs great when it runs at all.
I hate to keep putting on parts that don`t solve the problem. Any help would be very much appreciated! Oh yeah by the way it`s a 4cyl 2.0 DOHC.

Classic symptoms of a bad coil pack or ignition control unit. It would help to know if your loosing spark or fuel pressure. After it dies, remove a spark plug wire, insert a screw driver in the end, and lay it across the engine, leaving a gap. Have a friend crank the motor, and see if a spark appears, jumping the gap between the screw driver and the engine. If no spark, i'd bet money it's either the coil pack or ignition control unit. Unfortunately, it's probably cheaper to replace them than to have them tested, if it's even possible. If you have spark, it could be cam sensor, as it tells the computer when to fire the injectors. Also could be possible the fuel pump is getting warm and quitting until it cools down again...but i'm betting it's the spark problem. Good luck!

Sounds like your having a problem with your fuel supply. It wouldn't likely be your fuel pump, but I have heard of instances where a bad winding on the fuel pump has caused intermittent failure. Although it sounds kind of simple, check your fuel filter, when was it changed last? If something is restricting the fuel flow that could very well be it. It would explain why it keeps starting and stopping. I'm not sure on Chrysler, but it also sounds like it could be an ignition modulator. Either way, I'm just shocked to know that there is a Neon out there 10 years old. (Kidding)

When it ies pull one of your spark plug wires off at the plug and stick a screwdriver in the end and ground it against the engine. Crank the engine over and see if you have a spark. If you have a spark try spraying some carb cleaner in the throttle body. If it starts and dies it is probably the fuel pump

it could be anything try taking your car to a garage. cus i dont think anyone could really help you through the internet without actually looking at the car cus nothings leaking or anything like that. the car juss dies out so i suggest that you take it to a mechanic.

I've had more than one coil that would work fine when cold then quit when it got hot.
